MOTOMICHI is a New York based artist known for his creative use of projection as an artistic medium. Working with projection mapping and animation, he creates bold, character-driven imagery using a focused palette of black, white, and red. He is drawn to moments of primary emotion, where feeling becomes direct, and translates that clarity into visually strong projection works.
His practice spans large-scale and sculptural projection, often incorporating elements of street art and pop-up public projection. He uses projection as a tool for visual composition, timing, and spatial storytelling. His projection installations have been shown internationally at the Moscow Contemporary Art Center Winzavod and the New Museum of Contemporary Art.
His work has entered the Balloon Museum collection, and his animated films have screened at the Sundance Film Festival. He teaches projection mapping and immersive media at New York University and School of Visual Arts.
