A visual arts lover, artist, director, and producer of experimental audiovisual projects, light installations, and live performances for cultural initiatives, art exhibitions, brands, and academic presentations around the world. Her work centers on the use of light and video projection in unconventional formats such as video mapping, live video mixing, fulldome, LED mapping and LED façade, stage design, public space interventions, and art + activism. Her projects have been showcased across Europe, Asia, South and North America.
She began working in audiovisual production and direction in 2006 with agencies and TV channels, and since 2007 has been creating live performances as Optika VJ (Video Jockey). She directs video mapping projects, leads workshops and conferences, and designs immersive light experiences. Her work has been presented at VJ University – São Paulo 2010, Mapping Festival – Switzerland 2010/11/12/15, LPM – Rome and Amsterdam 2016, VISION'R – Paris 2012, Narrating Structures – London 2016, Splice Festival – London 2017, and institutions such as the Projection Mapping Association of Japan (PMAJ) – Tokyo 2018, Telenoika / Visual Brasil – Barcelona 2019 and 2022, IMERSA – Montreal 2022, VISIONES Art Festival – Peru 2022, and FILE Festival – São Paulo 2022, CANVAS fest Sao Paulo 2023.
She frequently works on artistic commissions involving public space interventions at festivals such as Nuit Blanche – Bogotá, SSA Mapping Festival – Salvador, Bahia, and the Brasilia Mapping Festival. She has led media façade and LED design projects celebrating Colombian folklore, displayed on landmarks like Colpatria Tower – Bogotá, and at the São Paulo Urban Festival, as well as creating art + activism interventions supporting social protests in Colombia.
Laura also works with DMX/LED systems, designing clubs, installations, and wearable tech. She has produced award-winning fulldome pieces at both national and international levels. Her stage design work using video mapping includes productions for classical and contemporary ballet and opera with Colombia's Teatro Colón, in performances such as The Turn of the Screw, La Cenerentola, and The Magic Flute. In 2021, she founded AV SÍNTESIS, a platform and festival dedicated to promoting electronic visual arts in Colombia.
