“Having an affordable software solution that works well without expensive unique hardware is key for us.” by Limbic Cinema.

MadMapper: Tell us about yourself?
Limbic Cinema: Limbic Cinema is a co-operative of artists based in Bristol formed in 2012 by the members, Alex Wright, Tom Newell, Thomas E Pryce and Thomas Buttery.

We met as VJ’s on the club and festival circuits around the UK and decided we should team up. Despite the inconsistent wages and sticky floors, club nights always provided us the creative freedom to experiment and take risks. Over the course of four years, we’ve built strong relationships with festivals and events that we share a similar ethos and creative visions with; we’re particularly fond of Glastonbury Festival, Shambala, Freerotation, Alfresco Disco and Greenman Festival where we’ve exhibited numerous installations and in 2015 projection.

Beyond the music scene, we’re focusing more on the realms of theatre, large-scale building mapping, and Art Installations. For example, making contributions to The Stick House, and bringing the Wren Library in Cambridge to life with narrative driven visuals were both hugely fulfilling projects.

CultureHUB LED Future Mapper© is one day workshop where students will learn basic knowledge of Projection Mapping technology to map LED lights with a special guest, a co-founder of MadMapper, Boris Edelstein from Geneva!

Our exercise will be choosing right types of LED light, recognizing how the video contents map and control LED light, and creating a simple geometric LED lights structure to take away using MadMapper 2.5 Beta with new features, Surface Shaders and more. We also will be showing GarageCube’s new LED light product, and more advanced LED light structure demonstration during this workshop. All students will receive a free 30-day full access of Modul8 and MadMapper.

Jean François Graignic is a french light engineer who works with MadMapper.
He wrote a nice tutorial to use MadMapper 2 with ArtNET that you can download at this address: https://www.madmapper.com/download/tutorials/ARNET_and_MAD_MAPPER.pdf

He published recently 2 demonstration video about Madlight feature, one in english the other one in french

1024 Architecture  co creator of MadMapper with GarageCube, did a Fully controlled, mapped, and live script Show with MadMapper 2.1 on the Darwin’s Vortex created by 1024 architcture. This vortex party featuring 1024 and Vitalic was an event of the Ocean Climax Festival in Bordeaux.

MadMapper 2.1 can now control Arduino Compatible LED Strips .

LED output through an Arduino compatible device (Teensy 3.1). LEDs are 7 meters APA 102 (7*60=420 LEDs with 3 channels per LED). It could be any digital LED strip compatible with FastLED (ie ws2811 & ws2812). More info and arduino source here:

Madmapper 2.1 is an important upgrade for stability. Important issues were fixed in MadMapper 2.1!  Update now for your upcoming project! Go to www.madmapper.com/yoursapce to download an updated version!
Our dev team worked intensively to make MadMapper even more solid and flexible.  Madmapper now supports Art-Net 3 (4096 universes)

IMPROVEMENTS

+ Added the possibility to import / export ArtNet Unicast routing table as CSV file

 Fixture auto-patch:
+ When duplicating a fixture (or using copy/paste), the new fixture will be patched in the first “hole” after this fixture (generally in the same universe)

+ When creating a fixture, if a fixture is selected, the new fixture will be patched in the first “hole” after selected fixture (generally in the same universe)

+ To fully support ArtNet 3 (and remove the 256 DMX universes limitation), we removed subnet from address and let the user choose a universe number between 0-32767 (for devices that are still using the old subnet/universe, the universe in MadMapper must be subnet * 16 + universe. For instance subnet 1-universe 3 in old convention is universe 1*16+3 = universe 19 in new convention)

+ It is now possible to change ArtNet Universe, channel or anti-aliasing on a multi-selection of fixtures

+ Fixture definition editor: add scrollbar, reduced text size and be sure the cell size is big enough for the channel number

+ LED Scanner: Added the possibility to scan over multiple universes at once

+ Confirmation dialog when quitting the application

FIXES

* Fixed major issue with BlackMagic devices

* Fixed a possible issue in nVidia drivers

* Soft edge gamma setting was not restore properly

* Fixed issue restoring Fixture Sliders when recalling preset

* Fixed flickering in Enttec DMX USB Pro output

* Fixed relinking of 3D mesh files

* Fixed issue reloading a project with a calibrated 3D obj for which we miss the mesh file

* Fixed Stage mask size on fullscreen

* Stage background is now displayed when “Output / Show Info” is activated

* Fixed Software Startup issue with non latin characters  (japanese, chinese)
